Glynnie was born on April 12, 1937 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Frances and Melvin Hatchell. She lived in Albuquerque most of her life having moved from Oklahoma with her family as a very young child. She married the love of her life, Gene E. Franchini, on March 22, 1969. Gene preceded her in death on November 4, 2009. She was also preceded in death by their daughter, Lori Jan Franchini-Basham on July 1, 1988 and Brother, Neal T Hatchell in 1965. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Franchini and husband, James A. Edgcomb of Albuquerque, Gina Franchini and husband, Edwin Landis of Olympia. WA., Pam Trent of Florida; one son, Joseph James Elias and wife, Carla Wersonick. She is also survived by two brothers, Mike Hatchell and wife, Dottie, Jeff Hatchell and wife, Heidi; brother-in-law, Jim Franchini, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is survived by eight grandchildren including her precious Rebecca and 3 great grandchildren. Glynnie was active in the Women's Association of Allied Beverage Industries and served as their president three terms. She participated in raising funds for Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd, Casa Angelica, the Kidney Foundation and the Democratic Party of New Mexico.
In 1992, she was the recipient of the Kidney Foundation Award. She was President of the Women's Golf Assn. of Rio Rancho Country Club and president of the Women's Southwest Golf Assn. She was also president of Albuquerque Senior Women's Golf Assn. She was a member of Duke City Bridge Club and the Sandia West Bridge Club and enjoyed playing duplicate bridge four or five times a week. She was State Chairman for two successful New Mexico Supreme Court races in 1982 for Justice Harry Stowers and for her husband Chief Justice Gene E. Franchini in 1990. She loved cruising with her husband Gene. During his lifetime, they took 21 cruises. They traveled to Europe, Panama, South America, Mexico, the Caribbean and Alaska. A rosary and mass will be held on Tuesday, February 14 beginning at 8:00 a.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, 5901 St. Josephs Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Kidney Foundation, 3167 San Mateo Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 or to The Center for Civic Values, 200 3rd St. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
